McGrath

Larger than life Adam McGrath has been a huge hit each time he’s toured with Arts On Tour, whether on his own or with iconic country band The Eastern.

A folk singer/songwriter ‘stationed wherever I land’, McGrath is at home with bluegrass, blues, country and rock and roll as much as folk and is known for the intensity, passion, love and humour of his performances.

This time he’s joined by a small but mighty rhythm section, The Roaring Days.

Maui's Hook Screening - Victim Support Fundraiser

Māui's Hook is a New Zealand documentary about suicide projected through a Māori lens – but let us not make the mistake of saying this is a "Māori story", as this is sadly a story for all Aotearoa.

The film is, however, revolutionary in the way it addresses the issues in a proactive, and hopefully encouraging, manner. "Less kia kaha, and more kōrero", is a key message. And this should make it compulsory viewing.

Two Screenings at Central Cinema 11th & 12th October at 7:30pm $15.00 per person
To book a ticket please phone Rachael on 0274 510 276 or email rachael.brown@victimsupport.org.nz with your name, contact number and number of tickets required (you will be sent a confirmation reply to secure booking)
Tickets are limited and no door sales
Funds raised go to Victim Support Central Otago

Central Otago Regional Choir Autumn Series

Central Otago Regional Choir’s Autumn Concert

Banish the gloom of approaching winter with this heart-warming concert series by the Central Otago Regional Choir.

Conducted by John Buchanan, with guest artists Melle Steringa (clarinet) and Sharon McLennan (piano), the choir will perform an eclectic mix of music.

Last Autumn, the choir performed pieces from New Zealand composer Felicity Edgecombe’s song cycle ‘Shaky Places’. The performance will include New Zealand poetry read by Gavin Jack and sung by the choir.

The remaining concert set will include a varied selection of musical works to suit every ear! From madrigals to jazz standards, gospel music to pop ballads and the choral arrangements of Stanford, Bob Chilcott and Eric Whitacre; expect a colourful concert to boost your autumnal spirits.
