Central Lakes Trust (CLT) celebrated the achievements of 69 outstanding students at its annual Scholarship Awards on 3 November, with each recipient receiving $2,500 to support their further education.

Now in its 19th year, CLT’s scholarship programme has supported 820 students with more than $2 million in funding since its inception. The awards recognise academic achievement as well as each student’s wider accomplishments and personal qualities. Selection is managed by their respective schools.

Linda Robertson, CLT Chair, said it is always inspiring to see the breadth of ambition and talent among local young people.

“Each year we’re amazed to see all the exciting directions our region’s students are heading in — from artificial intelligence to music, nursing, and more. It’s a privilege for CLT to help support them as they take the next step in their journeys.”

Local firm Meyer Cruden will also present its tenth annual engineering scholarship at the event, continuing its commitment to developing the next generation of engineers.

“Supporting local talent has always been a core value for our firm,” said Carl Meyer, Director of Meyer Cruden. “Engineering is about problem-solving and innovation, and it’s exciting to help a young person take that first step toward building their career in the field.”

Guest speaker Anna Grimaldi, Paralympic gold medallist, inspired the audience by sharing her personal reflections on resilience and perseverance, encouraging students to embrace challenges and opportunities as they continue striving towards their goals.
