New director announced for Pioneer Energy

Central Lakes Trust (CLT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Clarke as a Director of Pioneer Energy Limited (PEL), effective 1 October 2026. The appointment was announced by Linda Robertson, Chair of Central Lakes Trust, the owner of PEL.
"We are pleased to welcome Simon to the Board. He brings significant industry expertise, strategic insight and commercial experience that will strengthen Pioneer Energy as it continues to grow and diversify," says Linda.
Based in Mount Maunganui, Simon is a professional company director with extensive executive experience in New Zealand's energy sector, including senior roles at Trustpower and Meridian. Simon also brings a background as a corporate commercial lawyer, with significant experience in mergers and acquisitions and large-scale commercial contracting.
“I’m really excited about joining the Pioneer Board. I like that fact that the business has agility and personality and its community ownership is also attractive. Pioneer is in a great position to contribute to NZ’s renewable growth future” says Simon.
Simon's appointment follows the retirement of Rob Hewett from the Pioneer Energy Board. Rob served on the Board for nine years and recently stepped down as Chair. Tony Balfour subsequently succeeded Rob as Chair.
