Baskets of Blessing is set to bring its food rescue and distribution operations under one roof, with CLT contributing $320,000 towards a permanent operations and distribution centre in the Whakatipu.

The dedicated warehouse and operational hub will replace the shipping containers, refrigeration units and multiple off-site storage locations Baskets of Blessing has gradually added over time to keep up with demand. It will include large, insulated food safe storage facilities, covered sorting and packing areas, volunteer amenities, delivery access and loading zones.

“After 15 years of making do, this centre will bring everything under one roof, making our work safer and easier and freeing our volunteers to spend more time helping people,” says Baskets of Blessing Operations Manager Lee Nicolson. “We’re seeing more crisis situations among people in our community who have traditionally been more stable, and this centre will give us the capacity and confidence to meet that growing need.”
